Question: WHY DO I NEED BOOKKEEPING? I HAVE MY BANKSTATEMENTS.

Answer:

A small business owner needs their books kept up-to-date and accurate, so they keep their doors open! Bank statements show how much money was deposited and how much was spent. The most important part is missing! The bank statements do not show how the money was spent, i.e. a new computer purchase or paying the electric bill. The accurate recording of how much, when and for what is called bookkeeping. The monthend tally of your bank statements, credit card purchase, any monies you personally spent on behalf of your company and any loan payments are then reflected in your Monthly Financial Reports.

Question: WHY DO I HAVE TO UNDERSTAND BOOKKEEPING? MY (relative) DOES IT FOR FREE!

Answer:

Similar to “There’s is no such thing as a free lunch,” there is no such thing as free bookkeeping. There are a few elements at work here. #1. This is YOUR business. There will come a time when you will not want your (relative) to know all about your “baby.” #2. You do not want to find out after the fact that your deposits did not make it to the bank, were “skimmed” or that your credit card was never paid. #3 In the eyes of the Internal Revenue Service, your business is your responsibility! I can teach you how to keep your books, remove your fear of numbers d instill confidence and understanding. If you don’t want to do the bookkeeping, you will still understand your Profit & Loss when it is presented to you each month.

Question: I HAVE ALL MY RECEIPTS IN BOX. IS IT TOO LATE TO BEGIN A 2012 FILE?

Answer:

You can start good bookkeeping practices any time. Of course, the sooner, the better! There is time and patience required in bringing your account up-to-date. After that, it is a matter of monthly maintenance. Depending on the size and type of your business, this means scheduling approx. 2-4 hrs. We will set up your “Chart of Accounts,” reconcile your bank statements for the last four months and have you all set up for 2012! Receipts will be filed & account for; financial reports complete, accurate and filed in binders for easier retrieval.
